Mirion Technologies Supplies Electrical Penetration Assemblies to Spanish Nuclear Power Plant

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Mirion Technologies Sensing Systems Division announced it has supplied containment electric penetration assembly (EPA) equipment to Iberdrola's Cofrentes Nuclear Power Plant located near Valencia, Spain.

The new electric penetration assemblies and conductor adaptor module assemblies from Mirion are replacing existing electric penetration components at the plant in stages over the next several years. The Cofrentes Nuclear Power Plant went on-line in 1984.

Electrical penetrations, from Mirion's Conax Nuclear(TM) product line, provide a highly engineered conduit to permit the passage of electrical and fiber optic cabling through a reactor's containment vessel, while maintaining its integrity. Adaptor modules provide a simple, economical way to retrofit penetrations from other manufacturers.

"We are very pleased to receive this contract from Iberdrola," commented Iain Wilson, President of the Sensing Systems Division. "Our electrical penetrations are currently installed in over 290 of the 436 operating nuclear reactors throughout the world and we look forward to continuing to supply this critical safety equipment to our customers."
