Mirion Technologies to Provide Dosimetry System to Swedish Rescue Service

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Mirion Technologies Health Physics Division announced it has received an order to supply a passive dosimetry system based upon Mirion's patented Direct Ion Storage (DIS) technology to the Swedish Rescue Service Agency, which has been recently consolidated under the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency. The system, which includes DIS-1 personal dosimeter badges and the DBR-1 dosimeter readers, will be distributed among several rescue units operating in the vicinity of Sweden's nuclear power plants.

The DIS-1 personal dosimeter, from Mirion's RADOS(TM) product line, is well-suited for many radiation dosimetry applications. Small, rugged and waterproof, the DIS-1 can be read numerous times in a non-destructive manner without losing dose information. The DBR-1 dosimeter reader, also from Mirion's RADOS(TM) product line, provides users with an instant dose reading and stores the dose in a buffer memory for subsequent electronic transmission. The instant reading capability allows the user to monitor dose on a daily basis, and the electronic transmission eliminates the need to send badges to a processing center to obtain an official dose of record.
