Mirion Technologies Awarded Contract for the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant in Lithuania

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Mirion Technologies Imaging Systems Division has been awarded a contract to supply Nuvia Ltd. with visual systems for the new Interim Spent Fuel Storage Facility to be constructed at the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant in Lithuania.

Two separate CCTV systems from Mirion's IST-Rees product line will be used to ensure the safe monitoring and inspection of spent fuel as part of Ignalina's decommissioning process. The Rees C981 compact PTZ color camera and C981 color zoom cameras will be installed as part of the Fuel Bundle Handling Equipment operating underwater in fuel cooling ponds. A larger, in-air system will be comprised of ten class-leading radiation tolerant R981 compact PTZ cameras with non-browning lenses and six operator control points in the Fuel Inspection Hot Cell section of the new Storage Facility. This system will be used to visually inspect the casks. The facility is being built in preparation for decommissioning the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant. Delivery of the CCTV systems is scheduled for next year with the planned completion of the Interim Spent Fuel Storage Facility in 2011.
