Mirion Technologies Signs Contract with Bruce Power for Installation of Whole Body Monitors

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Mirion Technologies Health Physics Division today announced that Bruce Power has signed a contract for the purchase of over 100 whole body monitors at two of Bruce Power's electricity power stations. Bruce Power operates eight CANDU reactors and is Canada's first private nuclear power generating company.

Mirion will be replacing Bruce Power's existing hand and foot monitors with Mirion's current generation and next-generation gasless whole body monitors from the RADOS CheckPoint:BodyTM product line. These monitors check for alpha, beta, and gamma contamination on personnel exiting the controlled areas of nuclear power facilities. By requiring all personnel to exit the Radiation Control Area through a whole body monitor, Bruce Power aims to detect contamination closer to the source and to improve staff mobility throughout the stations by reducing the number of monitored zone boundaries. This installation is part of Bruce Power's continued commitment to improve upon their management of radiologically controlled areas.

"We are pleased to have been selected by Bruce Power to help improve their contamination controls," said Antony Besso, President of Mirion's Health Physics Division. "We look forward to a long term partnership on this important safety initiative."
